The emphasis on the creative nature of our minds is, largely, ignored, discounted, or unknown. In each case there are benefits and dangers. There was a recent article which stated there is a narcissistic epidemic in the USA. I see this as a choice. The choice is “fifteen minutes” of fame or eternal Being. On the surface, I must admitt, it appears the fifteen minutes of fame is the predominate choice. So many of the people I meet are unnaturally attached to their self-interests. This choice is ego driven more than a personality disorder. The materialistic times we live and the enormous diversions which  gratify our egoic natures are more the culprit than a pyscho-active disease or imbalance.

The other issue is the relaxing of fundamental morals and ethics. Religious teachings have taken on fundamental notions, which is an attempt to return us to the past. This distorts the need for a balanced approach and a solution to our Spiritual understanding. The threat of hell and damnation is not viable or efficient with today’s society or youth. It does work for some, but the masses discount this approach as superstition or evangelical rhetoric. Fear cannot be the basis of our faith or return to faith and spirit.

The existing exclusiveness of the religions is a major participant and catalyst in the current narcissistic crisis. The self-righteous representatives of the specific religions specify the conditions of acceptance, thereby, ignoring the idea of Agape/unconditional love.

Certainly, conditions of acceptance dicounts the commandment to love your neighbor as you love yourself. From this edict which excludes;  individuals are put in opposition to a belief system of the specific creed and implicitly ostracized from the group. This is the beginning of the contentiousness we see in the religious community. “My God is better than your God” is a main ingredient in the Wars of the past.  “You are with us or against us” comes from the exclusive relationship religions have emphasized and this only tends to alienate others. The defense which those alienated adopt becomes an inner adoption of self reliance and ego centric behavior. “Me against the World” attitude develops and from that attitude the appearance of narcissism manifests. All this comes from the need to be Loved which turns to joy and happiness, and finally success and adundance.

Perfect love can not come out of an exclusive tribal condition, nor can fear bring the “lost sheep” out from the wilderness. Goodwill and lovingkindness are the basis anf foundation of all healthy human relations. From these two conditions, Agape will evolve. This becomes the Eternal part of fame
