The past posts have been speaking to the emotional aspect of our lives. Today I wanted to begin the journey into the health of the body. It has a definite relationship to the emotional side of our lives. This is very apparent when the blood sugar is high or low. In both cases there is an affect on how we feel and react to life’s experiences.

There are over five TRILLION chemical reactions taking place in the human body at any one time. These reactions are at the celluar level. They are all coordinated and organized by an ineffable intelligence. The same intelligence which changes the seasons of the year or any other rhythm of the cosmos. Our bodies are bio-electric intelligent machines. The fuels which sustain the healthy operation of these organisms is complex and varied. Some functions require high ingestion of vitamins, others require minerals, others require neuro transmitters. All must come in a balanced relationship and, depending on the demands of the physical activity, they are required in differing quantities. The current idea is that “one size fits all” and so when you use supplements they tend to have too much of one ingredient and too little of another based on the invidual physiology. Science has known this for some time and have customized supplementation to meet the specific needs of those who have issues realted to autisim, cystic fibrosis, MS etc. The “new age” health companies have been producing supplement products with huge lists of ingredients, more for marketing than for benefit of the individual physiology. Many of the vitamins (B vitamins in particular) are water soluble and are best absorbed during sleep. When taken in the morning, by late morning you are expelling the B vitamins which were not utilized at the time taken. This says you are discharging money into the toilet, literally.

Are supplements needed? Based on the USDA the original food value of foods is approximately 4% of the value when it was first harvested. Even organic foods suffer the same fate, and recent studies have shown there is no additional nutritional value versus non-organic foods.

I will define the latest information concerning supplements and foods in the coming posts. In the mean time,I recommend that if you are eating animal proteins you should eat fresh vegatables in 2 to 1 ration. (1 lb. of meat, then 2 lbs of vegatables) I will explain this later.

Concepts of weight loss will be considered and I hope to dispell the myths and misinformation as we progress.
