Intention and attention are aspects of the creative process. One, without the other, becomes ineffectual. Intention is not to be confused with goals or desires. Intention is what one plans to achieve and it empowers the goals . It is the final outcome of the goals once completed. It is the mindset which you have concerning a planned decision. I intend to go to the store, is an example. It does not include what you will do when you go to the store or the details of going to the store. Similarly, I intend to be successful or rich is an intention for a final outcome of effort or plan. Although goals are similar, without deliberate intention, goals will usually be unfulfilled. Intention gives the goals impetus and mental energy; without which success is dubious. All creative ventures are a creative act of the present and never from the past. This present creative act takes form in the present, from moment to moment. The power of intentions comes from the present neutrality. (emotionally)

Neutrality is necessary to determine your current situation in rational and realistic terms. Questions such as:

  1. What is my current financial situation
  2. What do I intend to do to improve my finances
  3. What would be the ideal income
  4. What would it feel like to have enough money
  5. What are my unique talents
  6. Do my talents have marketable value
  7. How can I reach my full potential through my goals

The next issue is how to create intentions which are inline with your ultimate goals. Consider the following:

  1. Write down the intentions and create long term goals which are in alignment with short term goals.
  2. Write down your strengths and weaknesses along with your talents. Train your weaknesses or find a mentor to asisst you to overcome the perceived weaknesses.
  3. Visualize the final outcome as though you have achieved your goals and are living life accordingly. This should be specific and detailed. See yourself in your new house or the bank account with unlimited cash. Feel the emotion of having all you have intended.
  4. Allow the faith you have to change into beliefs. Eliminate any limiting beliefs. This takes time and work. Your belief system will support or defeat the intention.
  5. Revisit your intentions list. Use powerful and positive words for your intentions, be unequivocal in your resolve and committment.
  6. Attention now comes into play. Focus on the tasks, keeping in mind the final result you have intended.

Attention is the energy behind the intention. It is the most powerful aspect of creating your success and desires. A chaotic focus will only provide a chaotic result. Meditation has been in use for centuries. It was intended to strengthen the concentration of the meditator in order to achieve Spiritual insights. We can use the same techniques as spiritual pundits to achieve goals or to reach spiritual insights. Meditaiton is a wonderful tool with which to bring the mind and the attention under your control.

Take a few minutes and sit quietly with pen and paper. Write down every thought which comes into your mind in the next few moments. Do not force thoughts into one area or another, just write down what comes to mind, no matter how scattered or focused. This exercise will show how focused or scattered your attention is.  This exercise will indicate the effort which may be needed to master your thoughts. You must learn to master the thoughts which arise. This is attending to the mind, another key aspect of attention.  Once you gain control of the thoughts and direct your attention on your intentions, a noticible change in your life and actions will occur. As you practise you will become stronger and stronger and eventually you will be the one in charge of your life.

Attention, as I mentioned, is an energy source. Without this energy very little happens. When you are absorbed by advertising, TV, etc. you are giving your energy away. Take your energy back and put it into the intentions and goals you have set, and the manifesting of these intentions will transform your life.
